Cultural Landmark development

Cultural Project of the Year at the Design Middle East Awards 2024

Saadiyat Island Cultural District, Abu Dhabi, UAE

The Bassam Freiha Art Foundation is an iconic cultural landmark on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, combining architectural excellence with a world-class art collection. Founded by philanthropist Bassam Said Freiha in 2024, the foundation showcases Orientalist paintings by renowned 19th-century artists and a diverse range of global artworks, providing an immersive space for learning, exploration, and cultural engagement.

Architectural and Façade Design

Designed by ADD Consultants in collaboration with Obras International, the building features a ventilated façade system using large-format Equitone Tectiva fibre cement panels in TE10. These panels offer a through-coloured, sanded surface that highlights the raw texture of fibre cement, combining durability, low maintenance, water resistance, and Class A fire rating. The façade’s natural aesthetic complements the foundation’s artistic ethos while meeting functional and environmental standards.
